According to the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas (DOST-RESU-7), dengue cases rose by 39% in Central Visayas compared to last year. As of October 7, there were already 39 deaths caused by dengue from the 5,929 reported cases. Cebu City had 844 dengue cases, which is the highest incidence among the 20 cities in the region. Regional Epidemiologist Rennan Cimafranca urged the local government units and schools to organize anti-dengue drives like having clean up activities to eliminate potential breeding grounds of mosquitos.
